The City of Columbia, S.C. has received national attention recently for its plan to relocate the homeless from downtown to facilities outside of the downtown area. Some quiet efforts are underway to make these people feel a bit uncomfortable like removing benches and not allowing them to hang around some areas. Home owners and businesses are backing the plan because of problems with some homeless people using their property and businesses as bathrooms and trash cans. A rough estimate puts the number of homeless downtown around 1,400. Maybe the residents, city government and the homeless can come together to reach a solution to this problem. Heck, anything is possible right?
