It seems the Republican Party has a thing for hurricanes affecting their conventions. In 1988 during the convention in New Orleans, there was a threat from a storm, but it blew over. In 2005, when the effects of Katrina slammed New Orleans, the response became a disaster for the Bush administration and the GOP. In 2008, the GOP delayed its convention until another threat to New Orleans from a hurricane passed over, even though the convention was in Minneapolis, because the memory of Katrina was still fresh in the minds of the GOP. Again, the GOP is faced with another hurricane affecting its convention in Tampa. As a matter of fact, party officials pushed the start back a day.

What is it about Republican conventions and hurricanes, anyway? This year, they can always blame Obama.
